Welcome to our Family Blog

It all started with a telephone call, a few intriguing telephone conversations and a blind date. Howard and Maureen met early May 1991. After a whirlwind courtship we got married in Oct 1997 and so our family started with just the 2 of us.

Hello World! The Daniels Trio are here...

After 5 years of trying to become parents and 3 rounds of IVF treatments, we finally conceived 2, no 3 baby boys. We say it like that because at first we were told we were going to have twins, and then a week later the ultrasound said there was a third. So after getting over that shock we settled into a pregnancy which was not at all normal. After bouts with severe nausea and black-outs and restricted to a long bed rest, we finally gave birth to beautiful baby boys on October 27, 2006, at St. Peter’s University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ.

We did not know what we were in for. This was a new experience for us; there were three of them, and they were so small and fragile, and they had tubes in their noses, and wires and leads seemingly everywhere. The alarms would beep and our heads would snap back at the sound. The care that the NICU doctors and the nurses gave to our little guys was extraordinary – but no less amazing was how they cared for us. I’m sure the glazed looks in our eyes and the concern on our faces were not new to them, but their patience with our questions, our clumsiness, our tentativeness in the face of this daunting challenge made everything seem alright. They told us we would all be okay, that we’d get the hang of it, and we did.

Now over a year and a half later, with three healthy, active, noisy boys running around, when we think back to the five weeks that Joshua, Ethan and Noah spent in the NICU at St. Peters, its not the wires and tubes and concern that we remember – it’s the warmth and caring that envelops that special place, and the reassuring faces that always greeted us there.
